The agency initially cited trial design concerns in refusing to review the application but agreed to move forward after discussions with the company. Perhaps the significant public criticism had an impact.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/moderna-flu-vaccine-mrna-fda-kennedy-844ddc1d763a3975a0a2af6f67d5895e?utm_source=flipboard&amp;utm_content=AssociatedPress\/magazine\/U.S.+News\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Moderna says the FDA will consider its new flu shot after resolving a public dispute<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>By <a class=\"Link \" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/author\/lauran-neergaard\">LAURAN NEERGAARD, AP News<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Food and Drug Administration will consider whether to approve Moderna\u2019s new flu vaccine after all, resolving a dispute that had blocked\u00a0<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/moderna-vaccine-flu-mrna-2fc551cb2fb45735e67db0a4e2e2b0fb\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">the company\u2019s application<\/a><\/span>\u00a0for the first-of-its-kind shot.<\/p>\n<p>Moderna announced the change Wednesday, about a week after revealing that the FDA\u2019s vaccine chief was refusing to review the new vaccine, made with Nobel Prize-winning\u00a0<span class=\"LinkEnhancement\"><a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/nobel-prize-medicine-71306bd18785477f3a85a69caa6e09c9\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\">mRNA technology<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The dispute centered over a 40,000-person clinical trial that concluded Moderna\u2019s new vaccine was more effective in adults age 50 and older than one of the standard flu shots used today. It&#8217;s the latest move that reflects Health Secretary Robert F.
